Description of the activity:-<\/p>\n

Basketball is my favorite sport, I am very much passionate about it. 2 years ago I started my journey of playing basketball, and I am still continuing it. I got influenced by my peers to play basketball as they used to always go and play basketball games in their free play, and I used to basically follow them. From that following, I built my interest in basketball, and now I am over here, selected for my school team.<\/p>\n

About Basketball:-<\/p>\n

Why did I choose basketball as my CAS activity<\/p>\n

It burns calories (an hour of basketball can burn 630\u2013750 calories)
\nIt improves balance and coordination.
\nIt develops concentration
\nI want to build up my muscle strength
\nI have passion<\/p>\n

The learning outcomes I met were:-<\/p>\n

L1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
\nMy strengths under basketball are taking rebounds, layups, and Offence. To learn all of them is not easy, It needs dedication and hard work. Left and right side layups are basic, they are easy but when you start working on the other kind of layups, it requires a lot of practice. I almost took a month to perfectly learn an Inside- foot layup. I used to come to school early just so I can learn this lay-up, It was beneficial for our team.<\/p>\n

L2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills.
\nwaking up in the morning is a big challenge for me as I am not a morning person, I mostly sleep late. There are camps in the morning for basketball and for that I use to sleep early and complete my homework or any assignments early. This was beneficial as the time that I wasted sleeping is being utilized in a better way. I got a hang of sleeping early and that made my other days refreshing.<\/p>\n

L5-\u00a0Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
\nCoordination matters a lot in an offense, passing depends heavily, if the defender is taller than you then you bounce pass and if the defender is shorter than you chest pass. Passing was weak on my team and I was also not good at passing, I use to play alone but after some feedback from my teachers and coaches I took it seriously and worked on it.<\/p>\n

The learner profiles I have met were:-<\/p>\n

Communicator- Communicating skills are must in the field of basketball, you should know how to communicate with your team members and also your opponent. The keywords you use during the game should be proper, proper hear means that your partner is able to understand what her role is when you say this keyword, for example- We are on the defense side, I am changing my man, that means I am defending some other person, not the person that I used to defend,so here I will say that this is my man, I will go to some other person and my partner\/team member will take my person who I was defending. This is where communication takes place, this can also be an advantage for a team, by using communicating skills they can score a lot of points.<\/p>\n
