We four friends went to a trek to the Pangarchulla peak, which had an altitude of approximately 15000 feet. With less oxygen, high difficulty level k the climb, the trek seemed to be quite challenging.

L1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

One of my strength in the trek was the I was able to climb uphills easily, and was able to convert all my physical strength to climbing. I was even good at downhill as I was able to quickly and carefully climb down the hill. Most certainly, my weak point as that I was afraid to climb down the snowy terrains. I identified this weakness, and analysed that this weakness made me slower, and suppressed my other strong points.

L2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

New skills I developed during g the trek was not being afraid of heights. As this trek was on really high altitude, I was really scared of climbing down or up. It was realy challenging to break this fear, as it is with my since my childhood. I understood my weakness and thought that such fear won’t allow me to challenge my abilities.

It is really important to learn new skills, as this makes you develop as a human being . Accepting changes allows you to evolve your lifestyle.

L4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Commitment and perseverance were integral part of the CAS experience, as it enabled me to extend myself, and climb up the almost vertical, snow capped mountains. Everytime I tried climbing up the mountain, I fell into the the deep snow, which nearly drowned me in. Even though this kept on happening, I pushed myself hard and tried to capture the mountains. I committed myself to complete the mountain climb, unless I won’t commit myself mentally, climbing the mountain won’t be possible. Mental commitment was really necessary for the climb. Perseverance was important, as I had to try harder and harder, in order to climb up. Everytime I failed to put a step ahead, I gained perseverance and tried again and again, in order to complete the task.

L6: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Working together always works. During this CAS experience, working together was to an extent , that we had to pull our teammates up, in order to successfully climb up the mountain. We had to tie ropes, and grab each other’s hands in order to successfully climb up. Without team up, we couldn’t possibly climb up the summit. Some tasks are not possible without teaming up. We need to collaborate and seek each other’s help I order to attain a team victory.

L7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

During the trek, we were instructed to pick up the waste material wherever found. We understood the ethical implications and considered the environmental concerns of waste materials lying around in the beautiful environment. This disturbs the food cycle, as the consumption of the waste material by the animals would bring illness and would harm the animals brutally.

Describe the activity and your goals This CAS experience was one of the most challenging, and had the most learning outcomes.
