Fountainhead school had bought NGO children to school and it was our duty to teach them different sports my task was to teach basketball to the children with 2 more people was the incharge for basketball for 2nd batch and my responsibility was to look at how other students were teaching and I was also responsible for arranging the required equipments.
The learning outcomes achieved through this activity are as following:
- L7 Recognise and consider the choices of ethics and actions-With an activity like this, our actions played an important part. The children were underprivileged and came from a different surrounding than us. Our decision could have insulted them and made them feel lower than us. We tried our best to not let that happen. We made sure we treated them as our friends. We did not pinpoint their mistakes and did not make fun of the things that they did differently than us.My responsibility did not include teaching the NGO kids but because I saw that others are not able to do their work properly and that NGO kids were suffering due to that I took the charge of teaching them in the best possible way. This is where choice of actions played role for me as I had an option to just ignore the situation where fh students were not able to teach properly but I still took the charge because I thought that if those kids are coming to our school they go back after experiencing something new.
- L4 Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience-We showed commitment towards the activity by proactively planning it out beforehand. We utilised our free slots in working after this project and made sure we came up with an effective plan. We not only planned the activity with commitment, however, we also executed it with commitment. We taught them with full enthusiasm and answered the questions with the best possible answers. I was committed towards teaching the NGO kids which can be proved by the fact that I went out of the way and taught them how to play basketball. I was also committed towards the activity as I gave my 100% and tried to teach those kids all sorts of new skills and give them the best experience at FS basketball camps.
- Identifying own strength and develop areas for growth- As i am playing basketball for more than 5 years I clearly know my strength and weakness so this session gave me an opportunity to improve in my dribbling skills as i need to improve on that as i am good in shooting i taught all the children shooting skills this things motivated me to work harder.
