Komorebi

Komorebi(World Culture Day)was a part of  Language and everyone was given different continents and we had to research on them ad connect it with Language and Cultural Context.

I learnt these things about the Language used with reference to the culture of the country that I explored.

I achieved the Learning outcome of Language and Cultural Context which is to demonstrate an awareness about how language and meaning are shaped by culture and context. The text type used in the task was a poster.I used it because I wanted to display a timeline which I could show best using a poster. My target audience was the people who are interested in the diverse cultures of other countries and those who want to visit South Africa.

This is how I attempted to incorporate my ‘Language in Cultural Context’ learning into my project

I researched about the various cultures and and the I connected them directly to the Learning outcomes which were taught to us.We had certain guiding questions which we used to complete our project and talk about the various aspects of South Africa.

These are the things I did well in my Project

I explained all the aspects in great detail and I had good evidence and images which backed up my work.I talked about the LO’s of Language and Cultural Context everytime I explained it to someone.

These are areas on which I could have worked to improve my process or final product(s).

I did not cite my work so it was vulnerable to plagiarism. The organization of my work could have been done better by me.I was not very active while delivering my work.

The CAS learning outcome that I met through the project is/are:

LO 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

At first we all thought that it was not important to do Komorebi, but after the teachers told us that it is compulsory and was marked then all the seriousness suddenly bursted out.I was not at all good in giving ideas but I did not know that it could be a strength inside me,I tried my best to give good ideas for Komorebi. We worked a lot despite facing many problems. We had many other tasks to do like farewell preparations, submissions so we always had to work under pressure.Everyone were giving their in spite of all that.

LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills.

We had faced many challenges during this time period. There was lack of communication between us,our group leaders were not there because one had fever and one had to study for that so there was no particular leader in our group. When one of the leader came she gave her best in giving ideas. We  did not have enough time due to other submissions,so we even met one day prior to Komorebi to make all the stuff for decoration and planning. After this we had developed a lot of skills like open mindedness, communicators, etc.

LO 4-Commitment to and perseverance.

As I said that nobody was serious at the start but after we were told about the grading,we had to be committed to our task so that the final day could go fluently without any problems. We knew we had to complete the task so we did not hesitate in doing it.Even parents were to come to see our work,as we became committed,we were all able to do a marvelous job in the decorations and planning. The day went very fluently and it was a lot of fun.

LO 5-Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Team work is very important because it helps the task to finish faster
