CAS trip

We visited Savarkundla, a beautiful small city in the district of Amreli, Gujarat. We went there with a purpose to create a cover for the well to prevent animal falling into it. We made a big 10-foot long fence/cover. This took 3 days to built this fence, where we learned how to weld, cut the metal, and fencing.

Our first day went in gaining the knowledge about how will the fence look and how will we create it using those skills. On the second day, we started with cutting and welding. After learning these techniques, we finally got to see the well with its cover. Here according to me, the learning outcomes we covered were LO6 and LO5. LO5 say “Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively”. We were around 35 students as a grade, so we managed to divide ourselves into groups of 8 and distributing the work. This made our work easy and it accelerated the working process. LO6 says “Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance”, here we covered the issues of animals population being extinct and to reduce this decreasing population we created the cover. There were around 1000 wells in Savarkundla, so there is much chance that animal would be falling in more frequently. This would stabilize the ecosystem and the habitats of growing animals. As there are many nature issue regarding some animals being extinct so if we start with this initiative to help the nature around us than it would soon help us globally.

This trip was not only about building the cover but it was to know the nature. We learned about the behavior of several animals, cases where the team save many lions and other animals. We also had a session on rescuing snakes, hence staying away from the city in this peaceful jungle was a worth remembering experience.
