Swimming Competition

DESCRIPTION

Swimming is my ideal sport, and I am learning it for nine years. Till now I have learnt three strokes correctly which are backstroke, freestyle and Breaststroke. Swimming develops your endurance and muscles as there is a lot of pull in the water which puts pressure on your muscles and improves it. Also, it keeps your weight stable and decreases your belly fat. There have been many opportunities in front of me. Many competitions are underway which I am practising to win them.

Learning Outcomes Achieved

LO1. Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

I have multiple techniques which my coach has taught me to swim faster and use the muscle strength to pull myself ahead. Freestyle is the stroke that I perform very well and also have the experience of 200 metres freestyle which is very difficult. I lose up my stamina in 200 metres as it is very rigorous. I need to practice more to gain enough strength to win 200 metres competition next time.

LO2Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The biggest challenge was breaststroke. This stroke took me months to become good at. Breaststroke was very arduous as the movement of the legs, and the hands were not proper, and so there was no speed being generated. In swimming, if the movement is not right, you will not be able to swim fast and lose your stamina. I watched the Olympics swimming videos tutorials to identify my wrong progress and correct it to gain speed. My coach also helped me by showing the techniques used for breaststroke and recognised my mistakes.

LO4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

On weekdays it was barely possible for me to go for Swimming practice. I compensated the time on weekends where I did 4 hours swimming daily 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. Which gained me a lot of practice and learning. Sometimes I felt not to wake up and sleep, but I realised that devotion of my time in swimming practice would lead to achievements in tournaments. I had to commit my time to achieve something big.

The learner profile attributes that were obtained from this CAS experience are –

1.Risk-takers

2.Balanced

3.Reflective

Conclusion

I have not won 2 times, but I think that is the preparation that I focus more on my skills and improve upon the stokes I perform. Failure taught me my mistakes which you have to learn from and convert it into success. Overall I was able to gain stamina and willpower and win four medals, two silver, and two bronze in 3 tournaments I participated in.
