Hello! My name is Rishita Makkar and I am 17 years old. Currently, I am in the second year of IBDP.                                                  

A lot of people think that I am an introvert and that is true to some extent. Generally, I am shy but I am different and impish when I am with people that I am comfortable with. I enjoy sketching, dancing, cycling, listening to music and watching movies. These are the things that keep me busy in my free time.

My outlook on life has always been to be happy and to have a positive attitude towards everything that comes my way. I believe in living in the moment, enjoying every bit of it and living peacefully by not stressing over things. But I believe it is also very important to live a balanced life. So, the right amount of balance of all the aspects makes a life pleasant.                                                     

I feel that I am fortunate enough and at a position where I can help society with the prevalent issues. One of which is saving the environment. I believe that we humans have been gifted with nature and it is our responsibility to take care of it. If not take care then at least not harm the environment. Through the experience of cleaning the beach I could contribute my bit in protecting the environment, that was at a small scale but I aspire to take it to a bigger scale and do my best for the conservation of the environment. Another issue is of poverty and lack of education in society. There are a lot of children who are very intelligent and talented but do not get the appropriate opportunities due to some reasons and I feel that is unfair. According to me, they are just like us and they deserve to be educated just as we do. For this also, I was a part of the service sessions held at the school where I could teach some unprivileged children. That gave me a greater insight into how excited and willing the children were to learn. I feel that is one issue that holds a lot of importance for us a society and we definitely need to work on it. These are some issues that I am passionate about. 

There are a lot of things that I would like to learn more about. But first among them is reading. I know and understand how important reading is, but I am not very fond of it. So this is something that I want to work on to develop a habit of reading. Also, I am not a very sporty person so that is something I want to work on. I want to learn new sports and I will do it too. Another thing is that I need to improve my oratory skills so that is something that I want to work upon and improve. One thing that I want to do but haven’t done yet is scuba diving.
