I completed an online course with The University of Illinois, USA via Coursera which is a huge platform for online courses.The course which I completed is related to marketing.This course examines how digital tools, such as the Internet, smartphones, and 3D printing are revolutionizing the world of marketing by shifting the balance of power from firms to consumers. Marketing in a Digital World is one of the most popular courses on Coursera with over 150,000 Learners.This course was taught by Kevin Hartman. As a part of this course, I watched video lectures and completed assignments.
LO1.
Business Management is one of my favourite subjects. I love learning about different business ideas and I consider my passion towards business and earning money as a strength. This is why I selected this course. I learnt a lot of new things and business ideas after completing this course. I got to know about a lot of incidents that took place with big companies related to their marketing like Pepsi. Before enrolling into this course I did not know that Starbucks has something known as the’ My Starbucks’ idea where you can suggest changes and give ideas and every year some of our suggestions are implemented. While doing this course I came across one of my weaknesses of delaying my work. As I had a month to complete the course I kept some of my assignments pending and then I completed them at the last moment. It is really important for us know about our weaknesses so that we can overcome them and make the best use of our time..
LO2.
It was a demanding course. In order to complete the course and earn the certificate, it was necessary to complete the assignments and score well in the quizzes.When I enrolled in this course, I did not expect it to be so tough.I thought my passion for business alone would be sufficient to get me through. But things don’t always turn out the way you think or plan.The course involved a lot of self study and research.I had to be regular with my work to be able to complete my assignments on time.This was a bit difficult for me but I was not going to ruin my CAS experience and the opportunity to study my favourite subject.After a jittery start, I made a proper schedule to make sure I did not fall behind.My commitment to make it work helped me do well and earn a certificate for completing the course. These assignments involved a lot of research and had deadlines which was one of the most challenging part. The assignments were reviewed by other people who had enrolled in the same course.It was necessary to write compact answers because peers would not be interested in reading long answers for grading. It is possible that they might not read the whole answer because of its length and grade randomly. I worked hard to develop the skill of compact yet comprehensive answers.This will surely help me future also.
LO7.
The online courses have an Honour Code which all the learners have to abide by.This code is important for academic integrity.It promotes respect for our own work and the work of our peers.
I could not indulge in any unethical or unfair practices during the course. All our assignments had to be original and not plagiarized. I had to review others’ assignments by reading everything carefully and grade them in good faith. I could not ask anyone else to complete my work because it would violate the basis of the online education which is based solely on the principle of good faith, honour and integrity.In the duration of this course, I became a more responsible learner and developed a great respect for the teaching profession.
