Service Session at Scool

Providing service to people who are underprivileged or less privileged  than you is always a blessing cause not everyone gets to do this or not everyone does this. I also got this opportunity to provide service to a few underprivileged who had come to our school and would come to our school even the future. So how this thing worked was all the students from grade 7-9 and grade 11 were given an opportunity to provide service to these kids on the weekends. Also the service we had to provide was in the field we had a keen interest in so I decided to go on with Craft cause that was a field I had a interest in but was out of practice so I decided to work in that field. In craft first we had to plan with the agenda for the weekend, then we were supposed to order the stuff required to create the item that we were going to teach. As I am in grade 11 I was having some juniors of mine from grade 7 and 8 helping me to teach the kids the craft. All I had to do was communicate with them and deliver them the idea properly so that it can further delivered to the kids. We aimed to teach things that the kids could use in their daily lives and things that were easy to make so that once they are home they can teach to other people too. The experience of teaching the kids and getting to know them was fun as it was a new thing for me. Although I had problems in communicating with the kids cause I didn’t know I tried to talk them and also tried to learn it from the volunteers so that I could properly talk to kids and know them. There were many challenges during this because of the communication gap between me and the volunteers as sometimes they weren’t aware what had to be taught even though it was shared with them but we tried to make it up and complete the task and we made sure that everyday the kids went home with one new thing that they had learnt. The learning outcomes covered in this activity are learning outcome 2,4 and 5.
