Savarkundla CAS Trip

I would never have thought that somehow I could have helped the Asiatic lion or other animals by simply covering a well. What I mean to say here is that to help someone you don’t need a big input but just an idea which practical and affordable. For me, it was not just making a cover for the well but it was much more than that which included learning the skills required for welding, grinding and cutting.

Also understanding how risky wildlife can get but realising the fact that at the end of the day all the living creatures strive for one goal which is the survival of the fittest.

The learning outcomes achieved are LO2 which is to demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively as to attach the covering you need to pull the fence from both the sides which needs people on both the sides and then after making the covering  a numerous number of people are needed as it is quite gigantic and heavy to put it on a well. The other learning outcome is LO1 to identify own strengths and develop areas for growth because everybody tried out different tools to identify their strength and while developed their weakness into strength by trying it again and again. For example I could do welding the best after trying other tools while the person B could do grinding the best out of the other activity but practising cutting the rods to turn that particular weakness into strength is how I developed different skills. The last outcome is LO4 to show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences is essential as in welding the light rays are very dangerous and cannot be looked directly by the naked eye so sunglasses are mandatory and one person actually damaged eye because of it and citrus was put into his eyes to cure it.

The challenges faced during making the cover were that the light was too bright in welding so it was quite difficult to not look when you were rotating the machine on the rods but yet making sure that you are doing it in the right place and with the right way.At the end of the activity when we were just placing the covering on the well we realised how much efforts it took just to make one well and there approximately more than eleven hundred wells in Savarkundla so there is still a long way to go. But at the end of the activity when we were just placing the covering on the well we realised how much efforts it took just to make one well and there approximately more than eleven hundred wells in Savarkundla so there is still a long way to go.

When we joined the covering with the well I felt a sense of accomplishment that because of the covering we made maybe someone’s life is going to be saved and if I have to do it again even if the efforts and difficulty level is very high I will still do it because I know the level of bliss and satisfaction it gives you when doing something good for others.
