CAS trip- Savarkundla

We all visited a village, Savarkundla as a part of our CAS. We were in Savarkundla for 3 days. There were no good water facilities in the village, they heavily rely on wells, so because of this, there were thousands of wells built in the region of Savarkundla across the last 2000 years. In Savarkundla there are more than 10, 000 wells where every year more than 10 lions die due to falling in it, the wells are approximately 35 feet deep. At night when lion chases the prey, the well may not be visible to it and due to that, they tumble inside in it. We had to do something about it as the lion is an endangered animal.

Across our whole trip, we got the chance to acquire different kinds of skills. The work involved cutting, welding, hammering and grinding the steel rods. Everythings we did there had to be supervised by an expert, as the work required us to work with equipment which we were not at all handful of and also which are dangerous to use which could lead to some serious injury. This was an entirely new experience for me.

Working with all the sparks was challenging as it could have damaged out eyes seriously if we were not properly equipped. We not only had to take care of ourself but we had to take care of others as well, as we were in the middle of the jungle and there were no hospital facilities nearby. We had to work collaboratively. We were divided into groups and then rotated in each sector of construction.

This trip will be one of the most memorable trips in my life. We did something which made difference on a global level and a thing I am going to cherish all my life.

Some pictures of us, working together.
