  1. I learnt these things about the Language used with reference to the culture of the country that I explored.

Culture and context do not only influence literary works but we can also see its reflection in other media such as clothing, songs etc. So the continent I was a part of was Europe and one of the countries was Croatia in which we decided to explain the relationship of tie and culture in context with language. There is not an explicit connection between the two but as you know language is not always verbal but can also be something to represent or symbolise. It was in Europe, in the year 1630, in Paris, at the line up of Croatian mercenaries from the military frontier under French service, when the king of Croatia had caught his eye on the fashionable piece of cloth and then he made tie the uniform of the soldiers. The king liked it so much that later these ties were used to honour these soldiers and also to accessorise for royal gatherings The clothes ranged from the coarse cloths of soldiers to the fine linens and silk of officers and soon it became a trend.

  1. This is how I attempted to incorporate my ‘Language in Cultural Context’ learning into my project

In Europe, we had Scotland in which we decided to actually explain how some cultures have actually inspired some of the best work in literature till date. J.K. Rowling got the idea of harry potter when she was sitting while sitting on a delayed train from Manchester to London but Scotland is the place where she wrote Harry Potter and she drew inspiration from the stunning city from its Gothic architecture to its graveyards. Most modern British schools are nothing like Hogwarts — but Edinburgh is home to several castle-like institutions that may have inspired Rowling, including Stuart’s Melville College and the David Bryce-designed Fettes College. So a place is basically a reflection of its culture and here the setting is what inspired literature.

  1. These are the things I did well in my Project

Our team collaborated well as a team and we kept on motivating them as project assistant to complete their tasks by keeping deadlines and sending evidence by the end of the day as pictures. We did not do labor work but instead smart work by not making posters and decorations by hand but instead, we got some things printed and made only the important charts handwritten. And even for our decorations we did not do everything by papers but made what was significant but not just what is appealing to look at as in the vaults in Scotland and gave our presentation more importance.

  1. These are areas on which I could have worked to improve my process or final product(s).

We could have started doing the work from the beginning instead of completing things at the end whether it is a decoration or some charts. Also at times, participants were becoming lazy so they needed to be pushed more at times.

  1. The CAS learning outcome that I met through the project si/are:

LO1-Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. I need to identify my strengths as to what I can do best so like I think I am confident to speak in front of the crowd so I started the tour guide and developing on my weakness which is to keep myself calm when there is a conflict with someone and sort it out peacefully.

LO2-Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills in the process. The challenges were that the participants were not completing their tasks of coming up with the idea for their country so I needed to do the research for their country and suggest what they can do or improvise in some cases. Also to keep them motivated deadlines needed to be set and communication needs to effective between the group so I had to ask for the updates.

LO3-Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience. We had made a document where everybody had written the idea for their country so we would comment on them and tell if there any suggestions regarding it. We planned out everything from the beginning but when changes were asked to be made sometimes they did not make it as soon as it was expected to according to the deadlines. The task was assigned on a day-to-day basis so tasks could be completed more quickly. Even our group chat helped us to know where everybody is at and plan on remaining things.

LO4-Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. We need to research for every country even if consumes a lot of time and always take the initiative to encourage everybody to complete their task. We needed to always assign them to task individually so each individual is responsible for their own task and so there are no excuses.

LO5-Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. We need to synergize and explain the participants their tasks. We need to assign them their task so that work is completed more quickly and effectively and suggestions from everybody were accepted. Working collaboratively also helped us to solve a last-minute crisis in decoration were due to lack of time we helped everybody to finish their individual displays first and then do the remaining decoration.
