So for last years Raksha Bandhan holiday we went to an orphanage that has children that have AIDS and we went there because all the children there had been left and been dumped and never looked after. My family has started this initiative for all the children there to receive free healthcare and also free education. These children are extremely unfortunate and they need people to take care of them.
Seeing that they do not have a family me and my brothers went there and had became brothers to them. We will protect them for their entire life and give them the tools to succeed.
I had used LO 7 and LO 5.
I had to work with others in order to order a lot of gifts and toys for the children. I also needed to order food for them. And had I not been able to work in a group then the things would never have ran so smoothly. We had to work with the organisers in order to make this as fun as possible for the sisters that day. It was easy to work with others as I had previous experience with them being my brothers. It is very important to work together because you can achieve so much more together than you could ever alone.
The ethical issues that were involved here were about the way that the little girls and boys were abandoned and how they were all alone for a large part of their life, in this way the ethical issues had directly affected me. It made me feel as if I could make a difference and therefore I went to the program and made effective use of my time. I had a good time but the smiles on the little girls faces are going to stay with me forever.
I had a great time doing this activity and I felt like I had done a very good thing in staying with these young women. I became more caring about the little things that we don’t care about much. Those exact little things meant absolutely the world to these girls. It made me feel proud and accomplished.
I have decided to organise this same function each year on the day of Raksha Bandhan.
Here are some pictures of the event:
