Service Session – Dance

I have always loved dancing and specially dancing with kids. Getting the opportunity to teach them dance was something I would never ever miss. Therefore, when given the options for Service sessions, I chose Dance. This was one of the best initiatives our school has ever taken. Here are some pictures of the session :

I loved every moment, speaking bad Gujarati to learing stunts from them. I was in the batch 2, but still continued to go for batch 3 too. These sessions went from being tiring to the best part of the weekend in just one week.

Although, I did face some challenges. Every session, the number of kids seemed to increase which became a big opportunity for my as I was the leader. Some kids won’t understand to do the steps, some would again and again go and sit on the chair and some won’t even listen to me. These made me realize that it was good to be fun, but you need to bring in some rules with it.

The learning outcomes that I achieved though this activity are, ‘ Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process’, ‘Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.’, ‘Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.’ and ‘ Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.’ as I taught dance to underprivileged children who don’t always get these opportunities.

Therefore, this was a give-and-take experience. I taught these children how to dance and in return, they taught me stunts and to value every opportunity given to me. Thank you.
