Participating in the Inter-House Athletics Meet

Athletics and sports have played a very vital role in my life ever since my younger years of nursery or kindergarten; I would always be the first one to show up for a track meet or a playground course. In the years between grade 2 and 10, the role of swimming and athletics played a significant role for me, winning several medals in both of them, I would pursue them both. For the inter-house athletics meet that took place on the 20th of February 2018, I played for my house in three sporting events, shot put, the 100m dash, and the relay, and would secure positions in all of them.

Throughout this activity, I have learned many things, which I shall highlight below.

LO1. Identify your strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

In the arena of sports one has always to be aware of his abilities, and in this case the pressure of succeeding for the entire house was upon me, I had to make sure that I lived up to the expectations of my fellow housemates, I had to make sure that I had a bright idea of my strengths and my weaknesses, and in this case, the greatest advantage was my commitment to any sport or work, and the most significant area of improvement was my lack of practice in the athletics sector, so that was the greatest thing that this activity helped me to assess and later to work upon.

LO2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The challenges that I had to undergo throughout the course of this exercise was that I had to push my body to the limits in order to wake up my stagnant muscles which were not used to the explosive energy required for the sport of athletics, so I had to shock my muscles in order to make sure that they were ready to take up the pain that they had to in order to make sure I’m prepared for any athletic event

LO4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Overall this was one of the most significant skills in my opinion that anyone can develop in the field of sports, is. That commitment and perseverance to a task is vital to bring out the best of it in the person, and although this event was on a much smaller scale than any of the other primary league state or national tournaments that I have been to, each one helps me to learn something and take it into stride and whether it be a state or an intraschool event, my focus is as if they are my last and they are on the grandest stage in my life, this helps me to commit to these activities even more so.

Overall, even though the positions that I placed upon weren’t precisely gold, the lessons that I learned about life and committing to any activity were something worth remembering.
