CAS PROJECT

So here it is, Our (Kunj, Aryan and Vatsal’s) CAS Project. We finally completed it even though at times it seemed like it wouldn’t be possible.

Our CAS project was a football tournament that was organised by the three of us. We would rent an astroturf where we invited several teams that competed for a trophy and a cash prize of 6000 rupees. In the end, we had donated some of the money from the profits we had earned to poor people’s causes. Meaning that we had bought chips, food, and other items from poor people in order to give them some money they need.  This was a very good experience because we are usually the players that play in these tournaments and for a change; we got the opportunity to change the tide and plan and organize a tournament once.

LO1-

I identified my own strengths and weaknesses by doing something that I’m not used to doing every day, it was planning a tournament. Usually, I’m on the other side! It feels good now that I know what I’m capable of doing. Planning is sometimes going to be tough but in the future, it will become one of those things that you’re glad you have done. It is important to know your strengths because of how it can help you in identifying the things that you can do and the things that you will need help in. Sometimes asking for help can turn out to be the best thing ever! I worked on my weakness by actually planning the project instead of just taking the instructions and doing what I’m told. For a change, it feels good to plan something.

LO2-

Organizing the actual tournament was really really difficult because of how we needed to book a turf and also have the refreshments ordered prior to the tournament. I organized myself by searching online about the advantages and disadvantages of organization and that helped me become a more organized person. Usually, I’m very organized but I have a sort of “hot streak” inside me that causes me to sometimes become very distracted and that in turn causes me to become very irresponsible. The planning was definitely the hardest part of the project because of the time we had to carve out in order to meet with the people that are in charge of the football grounds and we also had to call the potential football teams in order to inform them about the tournament. We didn’t have unlimited funds and that is why we couldn’t afford to advertise. I found out that I am a very sweet talker, I can make people do things that they didn’t know they wanted. This can be an advantage in the business field at times. In the future, this planning process will help me because it has made me ready for all the rejections and the approvals that can potentially occur due to the planning process we take. It is very important to know how to initiate and plan a project because it inevitably shows if you’re ready for the future because we don’t know what it holds and that means that we need to be ready for everything. Be it, planning or initiating.

LO 5-

Working with others is always going to be essential to the betterment of any project or plan. That is why I have always been easy to work with and it is also very easy for me t work with others, this is mostly because when we are working I don’t let my ego get the better of me and this helps quite a lot. So for this reason, I would have to say that working with people and friends in this project was very easy and at some points very fun as well! No one was difficult to work with. This is mostly possible due to the fact that we are all friends and we have been working together for about 4 years. When you work with people for that long you know how the group members function and this helps the project. In my project teamwork was essential because we were 3 people and this means that we had divided all 3 aspects of the project. Marketing, Finance, and Ground reaching. All 3 had their work cut out and for this reason, the project went so smoothly. Every project requires teamwork for the same reasons.

LO7-

Sometimes parents don’t allow their children to come to play in such tournaments because they are oriented towards studying all day and night. This can be a good thing and a bad thing because of how children get a limited social life and they can up as deadbeats. These ethical decisions had affected us directly because this, in turn, caused the number of teams showing up for the tournament to decrease and our revenue to decrease as well. The issue made me feel sick and lucky because of the parents I have. They always allow me to do what I feel and they are always supportive of me.  These choices by parents have stayed the same way for me because, in India, there will always be parents who want to restrict their children from any sort of athletic activities.

I developed the Thinker and Caring learner profiles because of how I felt in the end about the children who have to suffer every day under parents who restrict them to live life. This activity benefitted others because the players who played won a trophy and money, they also got more fit. Some of the money was given away to charity and we also got some profit. So it was a win-win for everyone involved really.  My highlight was actually being the referee in the games. It was exhilarating! This project made me really happy and made me feel accomplished because I didn’t feel like I could do anything like this. Until it was done.  I wish to give more charity so that everyone in the world can live a better life through the actions of a complete stranger to them. The planning will help me in life everywhere I go and that is for sure!
