Eating tobacco in India is a very prominent thing especially in the labor class. My dad and many of his friends have factories where such labor works and thus once my dad told me about the way people consume tobacco. After that, I discussed this with my friends who were thinking about a similar issue in their Dad’s factories. So, we decided to have a tobacco awareness campaign at those factories and make the laborers realize about how this consumption is dangerous to their health and also make them aware about the consequences of the consumption of such substances.

LO3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Usually, I am an organized person and I tend to set the plans and the agenda for the work. I also create work timelines in order to be more organized. In this project planning was simple as we only had to plan and write the speech that we had to speak at different factories and make sure that the posters are stuck on the places which the labors visit regularly to give them reminders. Initiating was difficult because as in a team we got a little lazy to do the work and were procrastinating a lot which caused us to delay our work and extend our work till a really long time. Yes planning such activities in the future will be surely easier as I am now clear about how to deal with such kind of problems where due to procrastination things get delayed. After this activity, I learned that even though for some activities planning is easy but the initiating can take time and delay the project for a long time.

LO4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Commitment and perseverance were necessary for this activity as we were a bunch of people who loved to procrastinate so in order to get the activity done we had to be committed to our goals for the project and strive to achieve them as soon as possible. Generally, it is easy for me to commit to things and get things done timely but this time it was a little difficult for me to commit as the factories were shut on weekends and thus I had to take out time from the weekdays which was a little difficult for me to do this time. Else I think I can easily commit to things and get the things done as soon as possible.

LO6 : Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Consuming tobacco and its harmful effects on the mankind is a globally significant issue. This is significant as the consumption leads to cancer and that further leads to the death of many people. I know of this because I have many advertisements at different places about this issue and thus understand the significance of such issues. Knowing about such issues help me as I more aware about the world and also such issues where we can raise awareness to save people’s life I think knowing about them help me to get a chance to create awareness wherever possible and save people’s life who intake such things just because of external influences. Working in this activity about such sensitive issues help us know about other people and also gives us the opportunity to help them. I think such activities make me feel good as I like helping people and in such activities, we generally tend to help people to live a better lifestyle.

LO7 : Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

One of the main ethical issues that were involved was to not hurt the sentiments of the people working at the factory while explaining to them about the consequences of such consumption. The only effect of this issue was that we had to be considerate in our speech of the words that we use and also make sure that our message was delivered efficiently. This issue was difficult to deal with but in the end it was satisfactory to work such issues.
