Prayas volunteer

I joined as a volunteer to understand, observe and learn how day to day operations were going on in nature conservational NGO know as Prayas. I worked as a volunteer and learned about things like to rescue an animal without self-harm and call an expert when a wild animal is to be rescued. The learning outcoming which I achieved through this activity is Lo1, Lo2, Lo4, Lo6, and Lo7.

Lo1 identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

As I was doing my schooling and volunteering together, time management was very difficult. While schooling, I have a proper agenda to follow my deadlines which whereas in volunteering you should expect to receive any task at any moment with the deadline as soon as the next day. Because of this initially, I had a lot of struggle in balancing all my tasks. But by the time I was through month one, I was able to develop time management skill not only doing school tasks but in the completion of my intern tasks too.

Lo2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

As written above a major challenge I faced while doing completing my volunteering work was unnoticed work completion, for example, attending emergency meetings to understand their operation, through this I developed time management and self-management skills. Another challenge was in which I faced in my starting month I was scared to ask questions again, which I, later on, observed that I used to do it in school too. But later on, I did develop this skill and notice that I wasn’t scared or shy to ask questions not only on school but outside it too. Hence developing interpersonal skill.

Lo4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Though my school was going on with sustainable deadlines and exams, I did try to complete all the task and training and was able to gain and be more knowledgeable. I successfully showed my commitment not only to my school by submitting reports and essay on time but by also reaching my training season at Prayas office on time.

Lo6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

The NGO, Prayas didn’t only help me to learn about how to rescue and help animals but how it is affecting our eco-system, how carbon combustion can be controlled and steps which the NGO is trying to take with the government. Knowing this issues would help me to understand and reduce the use of carbon and help other people to get knowledge about it. CAS has helped me to understand a really important thing, global warming, it also helped me to increase my knowledge on the following and tell/explain other people the significance of this event

Lo7 Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Considered the consequence of the CAS activity that is not saving animals and birds can lead to many harsh changes in our eco-system. From day one, this was clear that learning and acquiring some knowledge about this is a very important task for all individuals. When visiting the forest or the hospital I made sure not to utter a word in order to maintain the silence and only say when something important is there.
