Farewell 2018 batch

Every year, one of out senior batches graduate, and we juniors prepare a proper farewell for them. It was not out time to do the same for our seniors. Farewells are memorable for both juniors and seniors and are a replay of the journey we had in our schools. I and some of my classmates were responsible for the creation of a memorable video about their lifelong journey and I also took part in capturing the expressions of them throughout the farewell.

L1. Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

For the event, my strengths and weaknesses didn’t play a major role as we all collaborated and did our work. We were able to learn from our peers and made an enjoyable event. one of the strengths which made me go through the event was my calmness. It happened many times that we were running late on our deadlines to complete certain tasks but we were able to complete our tasks no matter what. Also, I think patience was one of my weakness which I was able to turn it into my strength. As an example, we had to come early many days and bring our equipment to interview teachers complete our tasks related to the event and also simultaneously work on our school tasks.

L3. Initiate and plan a CAS experience

planning for a 3 hours event like this took us more than a month’s planning and trial and errors to get a satisfiable outcome. First, we had to decide on a theme for our seniors which could be unique and also has not happened before. Also, we had to do all the planning of the event and get materials like teachers comment’s and blessings for the students and many more things in secret so the element of surprise remains. After deciding on a theme, we had to sit down and collect as much material about the seniors we can collect and sort them out and make a rough draft of how our 30-minute movie about their life journey would look like.

L4. Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

My interest in photography dedicated me to improve myself in the field. Without the dedication and a strong will, it would be very difficult to achieve something. I have been learning photography for more than 4 years and in the recent years, only I started to dedicate myself in it. For the event, the main improvement would be the video editing. I had never learned video editing and this was the first time, that I was able to watch and learn about how video editing is done. It also introduced me in the field of videography and made my interest in the photography and videography increase.

L5. Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively

As I have said before that we worked in a team for creating a movie and its trailer for the event. The good thing about working together was that the experience provided by other members who were expert in their own fields. Like, we had photographers and videographers, editors who were good with editing and so our tasks were completed. The task provided to us wasn’t only based on photography, but it also needed many more experts from different fields like IT and videography, to complete the task. Also, we had to analyze the content we researched and make a video out of scratch.

L7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

As it was a school-sponsored event, there would be some restrictions to the content we can show. some of them were that we weren’t allowed to have clips or photos which showed any abusive words. We weren’t allowed to make a video we wanted but go with the school regulations. Also, we had to remember the deadlines, which were irritating to us, but we did find out later that it helped us in completing our tasks at the time. Permissions for bringing our own equipment were one of the restrictions which weren’t helpful to us.

Conclusion: So the experience gained from this activity was much better than any activity as we had good relations with our seniors and wanted to make a memorable farewell for them as well as for us.
