ILMAISU

On March 30th, we had organized a Farewell for our seniors. This farewell is organized every year and our grade had got this amazing chance to organize it.  A lot of hard work was required to complete the task. We had a very big task and lots of work to do so the first thing we did was divide ourselves in different like food, dance, decoration, logistics, etc. I was a part of the decoration group.

LO 1- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I used to do art and craft in my last school and after coming here, I had almost stopped doing art and craft. This was a very big disadvantage for me. At first I thought that I won’t be able to do it, but this did not stop me from taking part in the decoration group. After the preparations, I realised that I can do art and craft again. I struggled a bit, but I was able to complete all the tasks which I was given. The hippodrome looked great after all the decorations.

LO 2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

While the preparations, I was facing some problems like while painting the paint well out of the line, while cutting I was not able to cut proper shapes, etc. I gave my best, and even after facing all these difficulties I was able to complete everything. After this event, I am now confident to paint and cut in the class for any activities which requires me to do so.

LO 3- Initiate and plan a CAS experience

This had to be a very successful event so that our seniors could enjoy it, for this we had to plan a lot. Every group had to do their work perfectly. Dividing ourselves in different departments made it very easy. We planned and worked for around 2 weeks so that everything could go perfect on the day of farewell. We started off by deciding a theme which was expression (ILMAISU) and planned for the rest of the decorations.

LO 4- Commitment to and perseverance

I did not like working so much and there was so much of hard work in the event which made me think to not participate in the decoration. The thought that we would get a farewell next near made me think that we should also give a good farewell to our seniors. I had to be committed in completing my part of the decoration. This was shown on the day of the farewell, our seniors loved everything. Even though I faced many difficulties during the decoration, I did not give up.

LO 5- Collaboration

Teamwork is very important when we have such events and huge plans. All the groups which were made had to work together for this event. We had to do a lot of communication and meet after school also to complete the work. We also kept each other motivated to complete all the work on time. Everything had to be perfect, our teachers also guided us when we needed help and we also gave help to other departments if they required and the others did the same.

LO 7- Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

We were organizing the events in school and we were bound by the rules and regulations set up by the school. We had to work accordingly, to make the event successful and not even break the rules. The food which was to be served to the seniors was only allowed according to the Friday food policy. The songs which were to be used for dances were not supposed to use any slang words. The students were also not supposed to use any slang words during the farewell. Lots of resources were used during the preparations of the farewell, we made sure that any resource was not wasted and we did not order any extra resources also.

After the farewell, the smiles on the faces of our seniors made us understand that they loved everything. It was a great experience and it was also one of the best days of school.
