Service Sessions

Our school took the initiative to bring many underprivileged children to our school so that we can teach them a few sports. Even our juniors helped us to conduct this service. Students were first divided into different sports that they prefer to teach. I chose to teach basketball to the children as it is my strength and I feel I can comfortably teach basketball. The learning outcomes I achieved through this service are L2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills, L5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively and L6 – engagement with issues of global significance.

Teaching was a completely new experience for me. I developed some skills like how to handle children, what would be the right thing to teach in the beginning, how to treat children etc. I taught along with few of my friends. It helped a lot as our responsibilities were divided amongst us. We were able to concentrate more on each student. This is a global issue as there are thousands of underprivileged children who do not have access to quality sports facilities. This was a small initiative to fight against this problem
