The KWHS Investment Competition is an initiative from Knowledge@Wharton High School of The Wharton School. It is a 12-week free investment competition for students and educators. While competing we will learn about teamwork, communication, risk, diversification, company analysis, industry analysis and investing from the competition. We as a team of 9 members were responsible for managing a portfolio of $100,000 in virtual cash using the OTIS online trading system. We had to learn concepts and develop strategies based on a case study involving a young, rich investor ( John Abhram ). And at the end of the competition, we were required to submit a document detailing their recommended investment strategy.
We had a team of 6 members Mudit,Hrishi,Nirmay,Shreeman,Chirag,Virat.We were given many task to research about our companies and what will be the advantages and disadvantages of investing in a particular company, we faced many challenges like time management and lack of communication, but after all of this we decided to work as a team and we divided our responsibilities.
After many difficulties we were in the top 10 teams in South Asia and were selected for the next round and that was going to happen in Bangalore.
Learning outcome 1 – Identify own strength and develop areas of growth
I distinguished numerous shrouded qualities like I could influence other to like our companies.But with business knowledge as a plus point, I additionally have a shortcoming and that is I am an extraordinary thoughtful person, which means I don’t care to mingle much. Be that as it may, on the off chance that I am picking a field which expects me to converse with individuals more frequently than I require and needed to settle on a comment on my this shortcoming and make me more qualified for my vocation. In this way I had chosen to participate in this opposition, which had expected me to have a steady correspondence with my colleagues and furthermore the consultants. Learning outcome 4 – Show commitment and determination
this competition required commitment and determination at first nobody was taking it seriously, nobody was coming on time in the meeting and many excuses were there so after that we took a bold decision to remove some members from our team because they were not taking it seriously. After this step everyone in the group was committed towards their work.
Learning outcome 3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
