In 2018 February, I ran 10 Km in Surat Marathon and got 48 placed out of almost 2.000 participants. Marathon has always inspired me and I always wanted to run in officially marathon but never had the opportunity for it. In 2018 Surat marathon was organized in which I took part with some of my other friends, I wasn’t expecting to get into top 50 as I had no preparation or any idea about how to run a Marathon. That LO which I have fulfilled through this activity are Lo1, Lo2, and Lo4.
Lo1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth-
I participated in the marathon without any training and preparation and was not expecting to complete it in 48 minutes and getting in first 50 people. I even realize if I practice more and work on some of my skills then I may even get into a better place, for a longer distance. Getting to know my strength has helped in my ways, for example, after the marathon was completed, I got to understand my stamina level.
Lo2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process-
The challenges which I took was my diet, as this marathon was unplanned I didn’t give attention to my diet and water consumption, which when running affected me, as I was having cramps, which are because of water scarcity and was feeling hunger, which was because of lack of food.
LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
While doing a marathon, I believe the most important commitment would be to, not to give up, as I had to experience running long distances, I wasted a lot on my stamina in the first half of the marathon and wasn’t able to run the next half, but not giving up and maintain my constant speed, I completed the marathon securing a good place.
