For this CAS activity, I came up with a idea of making a website to create awareness of different causes of global warming. The society in which we live in, people are not aware of the causes for climate changes and global and hence I felt responsible for this awareness as being a part of that society and this also happens to be a way of me giving back to the society. We, the students of Fountainhead are fortunate enough to learn about the causes and consequences of our actions to the climate, but not everyone is fortunate like us, therefore I figured that by creating this website, it will help my society in understanding better about ‘what is Global Warming’ and ‘how it really works’, and in result help in reducing the rapid changes in climate and global warming.
My main motive was to pass on the knowledge which I had obtained over 15 years of studying in order to betterment of the society. My goal was to make a website which is available to everyone to mail their questions questions get more knowledge.
LO 1- Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Technology has always been a strong suit of mine and therefore it was easier than I thought to make a website and publish. However, there are some areas in which I have to improve is that getting my facts straight and correct as during the making of this website I encountered many times when I had to re-correct my writing and redo all the research all over.
LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Doing the research through primary sources was very hard to do as surat(my city) is not a well know and big city for which there is ready made data available through secondary sources like websites and books. Having to identify which and is legit and which is not was one of the skills is developed through this process. Another skill is developed is having good communication skills ass I had to take interviews and get the most out of it.
LO 3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
I got the idea of making such website for the society when my school took us to a local beach to pick up the garbage done by locals, we also interviewed some locals at that time and we found that they didn’t see any wrong in throwing the garbage at beaches and oceans and I thought that this was not their fault it was the lack of education and awareness that lead to this irrational decisions. This motivated me to start making the website to spread awareness.
LO 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Although this was not my CAS project, it took way more time period than that, nearly 1 and a half months as it was very had to collect legit data and then interpret it and then to convert in a simple language where people would understand whether they have good education or not. Commitment and perseverance helped me to finish this project and spread awareness.
LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Global Warming is becoming a trending issue for the world that might lead to human extension, if we as human race are not careful with this matter it might even lead to planet’s last times. Taking small steps like such, from to society to city to country to world we could stop this madness and find a way out to solve this problem together.
LO 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
This project would not even had last for 5 days if I decided to input incorrect facts and data which would have made my work way easier and doable but I did not decided to do that maintaining ethics is one of the core components of my school and we’ve been strongly taught to never do something unethical.
