Savarkundla Trip

We students of grade 11 went on a CAS trip to Savarkundla, a village where there are many incidents about domestic and wildlife animals falling into open wells. We went there to cover one of such kind of well. The experience of cutting, welding or grinding the metal for making the well was amazing. At first, I thought that the work would be hardworking and so thought of going the last to work. Well, most of the first day there was no electricity and so we weren’t able to work. But we did had electricity when it was getting dark. Well, I was tired and so bored that I thought of going first and completing my task, which was cutting the metal pillars. Well, when I started cutting it, I actually enjoyed it and I wanted to do it again and again. Some people with me started working and others had to be pushed to start working but even they started enjoying it. We even started arguing for the chance.

Well, I was able to relate many learning outcomes from this activity.
First of all, I was able to use or develop skills that I was not sure of.

  • I was never sure about how I would I have acted with machines for cutting or welding. But when I tried it, I was able to do it good as a first try.
I also developed new skills such as
  • I mastered grinding.
  • As we all were working together and collaborating, we were able to finish the work in the given time even though we weren’t able to so much on the first day.
This issue for which we were there is seen many places, it was said by the instructor that there are around 1400 open wells around the village and so many domestic and wildlife animals are in danger as the wells are not clearly visible to naked eye.
  • This issue is concerned whole nation as Asiatic lions are only seen in Gujarat.

We were able to finish the cover and was able to make a strong cover for the well, many of us helped in assembling the cover at the site and as a gift, we washed out faces with the same clear water from the well.
